Flights into and out of Pearson Airport in Mississauga could be impacted today (June 9) and for as long as poor air quality continues to plague the U.S. eastern seaboard and parts of southern Ontario.

Although the GTA has experienced poor air quality most of the week due to the ongoing wildfires in Quebec and other parts of Canada, Pearson officials said on Thursday the issue that could impact flights is air quality in the U.S.

“Passengers take note: Operations at Pearson Airport are not currently impacted by air quality, but some flights from the U.S. eastern seaboard could be affected,” Pearson officials said in a Twitter post on Thursday.

With poor air quality once again a concern today in the U.S. and elsewhere, Pearson officials are urging travellers to continue to check with airlines ahead of time to ensure flights are on schedule.
