A Special Air Quality Statement, issued jointly by Environment Canada and the Province of Ontario, is in place for Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills due to possible high levels of air pollution.

A Special Air Quality Statement has been issued because a high risk Air Quality Health Index value (7-10) is forecast to last for one to two hours. The risk is increased because of smoke coming into the region from forest fires in Quebec.

Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. Children, seniors and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.

If you or someone you care for is experiencing symptoms, consider reducing or rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities until the Special Air Quality Statement is lifted.
