Police watchdog investigating head-on collision during police chase in Brampton

The province’s police watchdog has been called in to investigate a serious accident that followed a police chace in Brampton.
According to the Special Investigations Unit, a Peel Regional Police-involved collision occurred during the pursuit of a driver last night.
The initial information that has led to the investigation indicates a Peel officer tracked a speeder and chased after him on Mayfield Rd. The driver travelled into oncoming lanes, colliding head on with a vehicle east of Torbram Rd.
The driver of the pursued vehicle was taken to a Toronto hospital with minor injuries wguke tge driver of the vehicle that was struck was taken to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries.
Two investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
They are also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
