Police trying to ID Clarington bike-riding convenience store robber

Police are trying to identify the man who robbed a Clarington convenience store and took off from the scene on a bicycle.

The robber walked into the JJ Convenience store in Newcastle shortly before 3 p.m. September 4. He demanded cash and tried to reach over the counter to open the register.

He failed to get the cash register open and fled the store empty-handed. He hopped on a bike and took off down Mill St. No one was hurt in the robbery attempt.

Police describe the suspect as male, 6’ tall, with a medium build. He was wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, a t-shirt, beige shoes and white sunglasses.
