Police struck an elderly pedestrian with their cruiser in Burlington

Peel police officer committed no offence during takedown in Malton

Investigators are calling on witnesses in Burlington who saw a police cruiser strike an elderly pedestrian near a local hospital.

The Special Investigation Unit, which investigates interactions with police resulting in death or injury, announced the pedestrian has been hit on October 14.

Around 9:30 a.m. that morning an OPP officer, behind the wheel of an unmarked cruiser, hit an elderly woman as she crossed the street. The woman was headed across Northshore Blvd. E by the Tower Entrance of the Joseph Brant Hospital.

She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Four investigators and two forensic specialists are on the case. They request anyone with information or video evidence to call in at 1-800-787-8529 or report it online.
