Niagara Regional Police continues to investigate a reported sexual assault from over the long weekend. However information remains sparse with investigators announcing they don’t expect to file charges.

On September 5, 17-year-old boy came forward with allegations he sexually assaulted in St. Catharines near Malcolmson Eco Park at 325 Lakeshore Rd.

The boy told police he was walking his German Shepherd through the park around 1 p.m. A man approached him while he walked and lured to a wooded area nearby.

The victim and the suspect did not know each other according to an NRPS statement. At the time they described the suspect as a white man, between 20 and 30 years old, standing 5’11” with a muscular build. He has blue eyes, blonde, shoulder-length hair shaved on the sides, and a beard.

He was wearing black pants, black dress shoes, a green jacket with a short sleeve button-up shirt that was pink, blue, green and yellow underneath.

However on September 7, police announced they no longer believed there was a continuing threat to public safety. Additionally they said “While the investigation remains ongoing, there are no charges expected at this time.”

Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation can call NRPS at 905-688-4111, option 3, 1009311, or Crimestoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
