Police still looking for killer in 2023 Pickering murder

Police in Durham Region are appealing for any information to help catch the killer of 17-year-old Anthony Dixon, who was shot at a Pickering housing complex exactly three years ago.

Durham Regional Police responded to a shooting at 1580 Kingston Road on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at approximately 9:40 p.m. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered a male suffering from gunshot wounds.  Officers and paramedics performed life-saving measures but the victim, later identified as Dixon, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed that the shots were fired from a vehicle that then fled the area, police said.

“Today marks three years since Anthony’s tragic death, and police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the altercation or who may have any information to come forward,” a statement from Durham Regional Police read.

Anyone with cell phone, dash cam, surveillance footage or information about this incident is asked to contact the DRPS Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2444.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
