Police seize gun, cocaine after raids in Mississauga

Peel Police made an arrest after searches of a vehicle and two residences resulted in the seizure of a gun and cocaine.

Peel Police arrested 29-year-old Denzel Smith from Toronto after searches of a vehicle and two residences resulted in the seizure of a gun and cocaine on Monday.

Police say Smith was serving a 10-year probation sentence that barred him from owning a firearm.

The tactical unit raided a vehicle and residence in Mississauga and a home in Toronto that allegedly linked Smith to the cocaine and handgun seized.

Smith has been charged with the following:

  1. Possession of a loaded restricted firearm
  2. Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
  3. Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  4. Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  5. Possession of a firearm contrary to order
  6. Carless Storage of a firearm
  7. Possession of property obtained by crime
  8. Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine

Smith was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
