Halton Regional Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who approached a group of children walking home from school in Burlington.
Police say the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 16, at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the area of Spruce Avenue and Meadowhill Road.
According to investigators, a small group of students were walking home from school when they were approached by an unknown man who offered them a ride home.
The children did not stop or speak with the man and continued on their way. The suspect then left the area on foot.
Police said there was no physical contact between the man and the children, and no injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 65 years old, standing between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-8. He is believed to have a heavy build, a hunched posture and a birthmark on the right side of his face.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue baseball cap, blue shirt and grey shorts.
Investigators are now seeking to identify the man and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured dashcam or surveillance footage in the area to come forward.
Police are particularly interested in footage recorded near Meadowhill Road and Spruce Avenue between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on June 16.
