Police Remind Residents Not to Call 911 on Ice Cream Trucks

While most people have a good grasp on what constitues an emergency 911 call, it appears others are still struggling with the concept.

Peel Police took to Twitter earlier today to remind residents that, no, you shouldn’t call 911 on ice creams trucks.

“It’s hot outside which means the ice cream trucks will probably be out,” police said.

“If the ice cream truck stops in front of your house and is there for a bit due to all the children, it’s still not a reason to call 911 to complain.”

While we can only imagine how many 911 calls were made to prompt this reminder from police, users on Twitter were pretty amused by the idea.

Residents who still have a complaint about ice cream trucks are asked to redirect it to Peel Region’s quick contact number, 311.
