Durham Police have released a video from a drive-by shooting incident from August 1 that left seven people suffering from gunshot wounds.

The video shows a car entering the rear parking area of Dams Foods on Harwood Ave. S. in Ajax. Flashes of gunfire can be seen coming from the vehicle, as well return fire from elsewhere in the parking lot.

Investigators from West Division are seeking the assistance from the public in identifying the vehicle and occupants. It is believed that there were multiple shooters at this event and police are seeking for witnesses to come forward.

A copy of the video can be viewed at https://youtu.be/QwqrG4QZQrk.

Durham Police say the primary suspect in the early morning drive-by shooting was involved in a “verbal altercation” at a customer appreciation party that night before returning hours later and opening fire.

Officers dispatched to the scene found five people suffering from gunshot wounds. A sixth person showed up at a Toronto hospital, also suffering from a gunshot wound. Seven adults – three women and four men – were shot in all, after a seventh victim cam forward days later. Two suffered life-threatening injuries that were later downgraded to ‘serious.’

Police interviewed several patrons of this after-hours party and continue to look for witnesses and evidence.

Anyone with new information about this incident is asked to contact Det. MacKinnon of the West Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2529.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
