Police release more details about victims in St. Catharines shootings

The Niagara Police are starting to release more details about the shooting in St. Catharines on Sunday (June 12) that saw one death and two injuries.

The police responded to a shooting call at 3:40 am in the Pleasant Avenue and Lake Street area of St. Catharines  and are now saying the death was a 33-year-old male. His next of kin have been notified and his family is asking that no other information be released.

The second victim is a 32-year-old male, who is being threated in an out-of-town hospital while the third victim is a 34-year-old female who suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is recovering.

The police investigation now indicates that the victims and suspect(s) were all at the same social gathering at a residence on Pleasant Avenue just prior to the shooting.

However, the relationship between the victims and suspect is still unknown to the police.

Police are asking for anyone who attended the social gathering or been in the area at the time of the shooting to contact Detective Sergeant David Pierini at (905) 688 – 4111, dial option 3, ext. 1009134.

Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information which leads to an arrest.
