Police raid on Burlington home turns up street drugs, gun and ammunition

Halton Police have recovered these items in a recent raid in Burlington.

A Burlington drug trafficking investigation by Halton Police has turned up the street drugs cocaine, fentanyl and oxycodone as well as a loaded gun and several rounds of ammunition.

A warrant carried out by the 3 District Street Crime Unit yesterday (May 25) uncovered the large cache of drugs and weapon and has led to the arrest of three people.

Found at the scene in the Brant St./Victoria Ave. area were a loaded Colt 38 Special Revolver with the serial number partially defaced, 41 rounds of ammunition, 147.4 grams of cocaine, 29.2 grams of fentanyl, 76 oxycodone pills, $11,000 in cash and two stolen licence plates, among other items.

Yahya Yusuf, 31, and Abdirahman Adan, 24, both of Burlington as well as Ali Mohamud Ali, 28, of Calgary now face a number of charges including:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Tamper with serial number
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence
  • Careless storage of ammunition
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, fentanyl and oxycodone
