Durham Region police officers, along members of other police services from across Canada, cycled through Durham Region today in the Canadian Ride to Remember.
The annual event is a 700-kilometre ride to honour officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. #HeroesInLife
At the same time runners are running through the region for the same cause as part of Run to Remember.
Andrew Hong, a 48 year-old Toronto Police officer who was gunned down in an ambush-style attack inside a Mississauga coffee shop last week, was laid to rest Wednesday.
Family members, dignitaries and thousands of officers across the continent took part in the funeral for Hong.
