A police officer was injured while investigating a crash on Highway 401 on Friday morning.
The Toronto Ontario Provincial Police officer was rear-ended on the highway at Whites Road in Pickering, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said on X at around 7:30 a.m.
The officer suffered minor injuries, Schmidt said.
There were over 400 collisions and calls for service in the GTA on Thursday, Schmidt said. Road conditions are much better today than yesterday, but drivers need to focus on the road, he added.
“The weather is certainly much better this morning than it was yesterday, but that doesn’t mean things are back to normal,” Schmidt said. “Please, keep your eyes open, look down the road, be ready for any type of hazards. If you see flashing lights, slow down, move over, be prepared to stop.”
