Police are looking for a suspect who reportedly fired about eight shots at a house in Lincoln (Beamsville).

Niagara police say that around 11:30 pm on May 20, officers arrived at a house on Central Ave. between John St. and Jackson St. to respond to a reported shooting.

Police allege a lone male suspect driving a white Hyundai Sant Fe SUV drove by the house, came back, exited the vehicle, approached the house and opened fire with a handgun. The house and a nearby car were struck.

Police say that a few minutes later, the vehicle was seen travelling northbound on Central Ave. at “a high rate of speed.”

Police say the vehicle had been stolen prior to the shooting. It was later recovered in Hamilton.

The occupants of the house were sleeping at the time and were not injured.

The suspect is described as a thin Black male who is approximately 25 years old. He has black braided hair and was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Police believe the incident is isolated and there is no threat to the community.

Detectives are appealing to anyone with any information to contact them by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009935. Anyone with footage (doorbell, security or dashcam) is also asked to review it for suspicious activity between the hours of 11 pm and midnight on May 20.
