Police looking for suspect in downtown Hamilton shooting

The Hamilton Police Service is investigating an afternoon shooting that sent a man to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police responded to the area of Barton St East and Oak Ave at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday (July 28) after reports of a shooting.

They found a 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital and it is now in serious but stable condition.

Detectives believe it was a targeted incident and are asking residents and businesses in the area to check any video surveillance they may have.

Police are looking for a black 4-door vehicle and one male suspect.
