Police in the Halton Region have been busy taking speeding vehicles off the roads with two recent roadside stops resulting in stunt driving charges.

The first incident happened last night (Sept. 17) shortly after 9:30 p.m. in Halton Hills.

Officers stopped a car at No. 10 Side Rd. and Eighth Ln. after it was seen traveling at a speed of 100 km/h in a posted 60 km/h speed limit zone.

The driver received a stunt driving charge for going 40 km/h over in a posted zone of less than 80 km/hr. Their license was suspended for 30 days, and they faced a 14-day vehicle impoundment.

The second charge was laid this evening (Sept. 18) around 6 p.m. in Georgetown.

The District Response Unit observed a black truck travelling at 127 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.

That’s more than double the posted speed limit.

The truck driver also faced a 30-day license suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.
