Police lay assault charges following alleged domestic assaults

Police are looking for a man charged with multiple violent offences related to alleged domestic disturbances.

On Thursday, Peel Region Police said Franz Gibbs is charged with five offences, including uttering threats and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Const. Sarah Patten said the charges stem from “multiple incidents” believed to have occurred in Mississauga and Vaughn between January and August 2021.

Patten said Gibbs and the victim are known to each other, and that the charges are “domestic related.” The alleged incidents were reported to police in August, however police were unable to provide additional details on the charges or the incidents.

Gibbs is 38-years-old and described as being six-feet-tall and weighing 160 pounds. He has medium build, black hair, brown eyes and black facial hair.

Gibbs has been charged with:

  • Overcoming resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate, or Strangle Another Person
  • Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Two counts of Assault with a weapon
  • Assault
