The Hamilton Police Service is investigating two “shooting incidents” that occurred on the mountain over the weekend.

The first occured Saturday (Oct. 31) shortly after 9 p.m. Police responded to a report of “shots fired” in the area of Limeridge Rd. W and Britten Close. No injuries were reported.

Police say “a lone suspect on the street discharged multiple rounds” before fleeing the area. They added that they believe it was a targeted incident.

The suspect is reportedly a black male in his 20s. He is 5-foot-10 with a thin build. Police say the suspect was wearing a “shiny black puffy jacket.”

The following morning (Nov. 1) at 9 a.m., Hamilton Police received a call regarding a firearm being discharged at a townhouse unit in the area of Upper Ottawa St. and Stone Church Rd E.

“Officers located evidence to confirm a single gunshot was fired at the front door of the unit,” said Hamilton Police. “The occupants of the residence were asleep at the time of the shooting and were not injured.”

Police believe the incident was targeted and occured between 4 and 5 a.m.

“With the information available at this time, there is no evidence to link the [separate] incidents as related,” added police, who are asking the public to help identify the suspect(s).

With the weekend incidents, there have been 41 shooting occurrences in Hamilton this year.
