Niagara Police are investigating a serious three-way collision last night (April 20) in Niagara-on-the-Lake that totaled one of the vehicles.

The police came to the scene at the intersection of Scott St. and Stewart Rd. at 9:40 pm where a sedan, a pick-up and a SUV had all smashed into each other and EMS quickly shuttled one of the drivers to the hospital with minor injuries.

Their investigation turned up that the sedan made an improper turn into the intersection and collided with the pick-up, causing it to flip onto its roof. Before anything could be done, a Land Rover plowed into both, sending the pick-up into the ditch.

While the pick-up is a write-off, damages to the sedan were roughly $7,000 while the Land Rover saw about $20,000 in damages.

The driver of the sedan, a 70 year old man from St. Catharines, has been charged with making an improper turn.

All three were towed from the scene and the roadway re-opened at 11:20 pm.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact the investigating officer by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1022200.
