Police investigating suspicious fire in Burlington

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is seeking the public’s assistance in the investigation of a suspicious fire in Burlington.

Police say on July 26, 2021, at approximately 9:00 p.m., they responded to a fire at a residence on Maple Avenue.

Upon arrival, the second floor of the home was fully engulfed by flames, according to police.

Fortunately, the home was vacant at the time of the fire and there were no physical injuries reported, police say.

Burlington Fire was able to extinguish the fire, however, investigators have deemed this fire to be suspicious.

HRPS investigators are now working with the Office of the Fire Marshal.

Anyone with information or with dashcam footage in the area of Maple Avenue and Hammond Street between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on the evening of July 26 is asked to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.
