Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred in Hamilton.

During the early-morning hours of April 3, the victim was walking in the area of King Street East and Holton Avenue when he was approached and sexually assaulted by another man.

Over the course of the investigation, Hamilton Police Service (HPS) has reason to believe the crime was motivated by hate, and HPS is working with the 2S and LGBTQIA+ Liaison Officer and the Hate Crime Unit.

The suspect is described as a white man between the ages of 30 and 35; he’s approximately 6’ tall; with light-coloured hair; and a short, groomed goatee.

On the night of the assault, he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black pants with a stripe on the side, and dark-coloured running shoes.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation is urged to contact Detective Ryan Moore at 905-546-4614.
