Police Investigating Hit And Run Involving A Pedestrian In Mississauga

A female pedestrian has been hit by a car in Mississauga.

The vehicle failed to remain on scene.

The incident occurred on Sorrento Drive and Elia Avenue. Sorrento Drive and Elia Avenue is closed due to the Peel Police’s Major Collision Bureau investigation. 

The female is currently being transported to a local hospital.

The police received the call at 5:10pm.

UPDATE:

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the local hospital.

The police have not stated the age of the pedestrian. There also is no description of the suspect vehicle available.

The intersection remains closed for police investigation.

UPDATE:

The victim has been identified as Rafaela Piedrasanta, a  75-year-old woman from Mississauga.

The vehicle is described as a white 4-door pickup truck with a white box in the back. Only half the license plate is available, which is AV2.

UPDATE: The road is now reopened.
