Police investigating after dead body found in burning vehicle in Burlington

A homicide investigation is underway in Burlington this morning (Nov. 27).

At around 3:30 a.m., Halton Regional Police and fire services responded to a vehicle fire in the area of 5463 Dundas Street, west of Tremaine Road.

“After the fire was extinguished, emergency services personnel discovered the body of a deceased person inside the vehicle,” said police.

 

The circumstances have been deemed suspicious and the Homicide Unit is currently investigating.

The deceased has not been identified at this time and there is no suspect description.

Police say the vehicle will been taken to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto for further examination.

Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses who saw the fire or anyone who travelled in the area of Dundas Street between Bronte Road and Appleby Line, and may have any dashcam footage from November 27 between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. within the following area:

  • Highway 407 (north)
  • Appleby Line (west)
  • Bronte Road (east)
  • QEW / 403 (south)
