Police are investigating a homicide at the Ajax GO Train Station.
On Monday morning, Durham Regional Police said officers were investigating the death in the station parking lot.
In an update, police said officers responded to an assist ambulance call at the station in Ajax, Ont., around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived they found a man in his 20s with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Police said investigators believe the shooting happened between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. and was “isolated and targeted.”
Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance video and are looking for at least one suspect who fled the area on foot, police said.
The homicide unit has taken over carriage of this investigation and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. Contact police at 905-579-1520 with information related to this shooting.
This is Durham Region’s fourth homicide of the year, police said.
There were delays and limitations on parking availability at the Ajax GO lot Monday morning due to the investigation.
