Police identify woman arrested in Clarington convenience store robbery

Police arrested a woman in connection to a convenience store robbery in Clarington that resulted in area schools being notified yesterday afternoon.

At 1:05 p.m. February 3, police were called to the Circle K at Bowmanville Avenue and Hartwell Avenue after a report of an armed robbery. According to police, a suspect entered the store and demanded cash while brandishing a firearm.

The suspect took the cash and ran from the store. The employee was not harmed physically in the robbery.

Police announced they were investigating the robbery via twitter at 1:22 saying they had notified area schools, Dr. Ross Tilley Public School and Holy Family Catholic School.

Minutes later at 1:37, DRPS announced they had arrested a suspect, who they did not identify at the time, and told the schools.

In their search of the area officers found an airsoft pistol they collected as evidence. A suspect was found in nearby residential area.

Tierra Williams, 32 of Clarington is charged with: robbery with offensive weapon, weapons dangerous, use of an imitation firearm during commission of an offence, forcible confinement and wear disguise with intent.

Williams remains in custody pending a bail a bail hearing.
