Police identify victim killed in parking lot shooting as 30 year-old Oshawa man

Police are still searching for a suspect in a shooting in a parking lot west of downtown Oshawa that claimed the life of a 30 year-old man.

Police were called to the Teddy’s Plaza at Park Road and King St. W at 8:24 p.m. Thursday night after reports of multiple gun shots.

The man, identified as Michael Nigris of Oshawa, was found suffering gunshot wounds outside Cash Converters, a second-hand store owned by the Nigris family.

Life-saving measures were performed but Nigris was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the suspect fled in a vehicle that was recovered a short time later. The suspect, who is still at large, is described as male, with a small build and wearing a dark hooded sweater and dark pants.

The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and are asking for anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam and home surveillance, to contact police.
