Peel Regional Police are searching for Rubens Mukja, 33, of Mississauga, who's believed to be "going through a state of crisis." He might also be carrying several firearms, police say.

Peel Regional Police have stepped up efforts to find a Mississauga man who’s been missing since yesterday and is believed to be armed with several guns and “going through a state of crisis.”

In a public plea for help in finding Rubens Mukja, 33, Const. Himmet Gill said in a video posted late this morning to the Peel police Twitter page that “police and his family are concerned for his well-being.”

Police, who have set up a mobile command centre in the parking lot of Westminster United Church, near where Mukja was last seen, say he may be in possession of several firearms and that they have “public safety concerns” as the search continues.

Anyone who spots the man is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately, and to not approach him.

Mukja was last seen on Saturday night at 10:30 p.m., and yesterday morning was reported missing from the Westminster Place/Rathburn Rd. E. area of east Mississauga.

He’s described as 5-foot-9 with a medium build and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing an olive-green windbreaker jacket, white running shoes and a black backpack.
