Police find gun during Oshawa domestic dispute

More than a dozen charges have been filed against an Oshawa man after Durham police called to defuse a domestic dispute allegedly found a gun with a loaded extended magazine on him.
A woman called police to her Oshawa home in the King St and Stevenson Rd area on April 2 to report a domestic assault involving her boyfriend.
When police arrived a man at the scene became “combative” with an officer, according to DRPS. Officers fired their tasers at the man to subdue him and he was taken into custody. Neither officer was harmed.
Police say during the struggle, a handgun fell from a pouch worn across the man. The gun was reportedly loaded with an extended capacity magazine.
The 31-year-old man, who police did not identify, has been charged with 13 offences including;
- Assault,
- Mischief Under $5,000,
- Unlicensed Person Possess Weapon,
- Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm No Licence or Registration Certificate,
- Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License,
- Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm,
- Possess Contrary to Order,
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number Has Been Tampered,
- Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm,
- Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Device,
- Possession of Schedule I Substance,
- Obstruct Peace Officer and,
- Take Weapon of Peace Officer in Execution of Duty.
