A driver awoke after being asleep at the wheel with a bong in their lap and drove into a police cruiser before fleeing the area of Fennell Ave and Hoover Cres.

That’s according to the Hamilton Police Service (HPS) who say they are searching for a red Hyundai Santa Fe with extensive damage to the front end of the driver’s side. The license plate is CLJV459.

The HPS tweeted a photo of the damaged cruiser on Friday (Dec. 31). The caption reads that police received a call from a citizen reporting that a driver was asleep at the wheel with a bong on their lap. Police say they pinned the vehicle but after the driver woke up, they drove into the cruiser before fleeing.

No officers were injured.

Police say the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and should not be approached.
