Crews have reopened a busy Mississauga roadway after a police cruiser crashed on Wednesday morning (July 12).

The incident happened shortly before 5:00 a.m. in the area of Dixie Rd. and Britannia Rd. in Mississauga according to Peel Regional Police who say a police cruiser was involved in a collision.

Police say multiple vehicles were involved in the crash and footage reviewed by Insauga.com shows at least two vehicles with significant damage, including a minivan which appears to have collided with a pole.

A spokesperson for Peel Paramedics said an ambulance was dispatched to the scene of the crash but only minor injuries were reported and no patients were transported to hospital.

A police spokesperson could not comment on whether the police cruiser was involved on an active call at the time of the crash.

Police closed the northbound lanes of Dixie Rd. at Britannia Rd. while officers were on the scene but a spokesperson said the roadway reopened around 6:00 a.m.
