A man has been charged after leading police on a chase in Brampton that ended in a rollover crash on Wednesday.

The crash happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. near Airport Road and Queen Street East in Brampton after officers spotted a vehicle with stolen plates, Peel Regional Police said.

Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, but that’s when police say the male driver took off “at a high rate of speed” leading police on a chase to a plaza in the area of Coventry Road.

Police say the vehicle struck a police cruiser and flipped over, and the 36-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

The driver, a 36-year-old man from Brampton, has been charged by Peel Regional Police with one count each of possessing property obtained by crime and flight from a peace officer.

Police have not released the identity of the accused, who is scheduled to attend court and answer to the charges at a later date.
