Police have charged a pair of alleged salt bin bandits from Brampton and Caledon after a string of thefts from an industrial area last November.

On the night of Nov. 4, police say two people were captured on survelience video stealing plastic salt storage containers from businesses in Caledon’s Bolton Industrial Area.

In both instances, police say the suspects dumped all the salt from the bins before taking the empty containers.

Members of the Caledon OPP Detachment Community Street Crime Unit conducted an investigation which led to two suspects being identified, arrested and charged.

Simon Brand, 56, of Brampton and Jason Dahonick, 39, of Caledon have both been charged with seven counts of Theft Under $5000.

Both Brand and Dahonick scheduled to appear in Orangeville Provincial Court in March.

Police are asking anyone with information or video surveillance footage related to the thefts to contact Caledon OPP Detachment at (905) 584-2241 or 1-888-310-1122.
