Police, by-stander help save overdose victim in Ajax

Durham Police and a good Samaritan helped save a life in Ajax last Thursday when two doses of Narcan were able to bring an unconscious man back to life.

West Division officers responded to a call about an “unconscious male” on April 27 near Harwood Avenue and Hunt Street. A by-stander has started life-saving measures when police arrived and officers quickly administered two doses of Narcan – a brand name for the Nalaxone drug used to revive those who have suffered opioid overdoses.

The drug worked and the man was transported to Lakeridge Health Ajax for treatment.
