Niagara Police have arrested two suspects following reports of gun shots in Port Colborne on May 18 at 4:30 am.

While expecting foul play, when police arrived in the Saturn Crescent area, there was no injured body, no blood, no anything. In fact, all they found was shells from six rounds on the ground to indicate a gun was fired.

Forensic detectives have been examining the scene and homes in the area since that time for any evidence that someone may have been shot.

As a result of further investigation, Niagara Police rounded up three suspects from the Hamilton area and charged two.

Matthew Chupil, 22, of Stoney Creek is charged with discharging a firearm into a place in a reckless manor, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm while knowingly not holding a licence, possession of a firearm, weapon, or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a weapon and failure to comply with probation order.

Jayden Tittle, 19, of Hamilton is charged with accessory to discharging a firearm into a place in a reckless manor.

The third suspect was released unconditionally.

Both men were held in-custody pending a bail hearing.  Tittle attended a bail hearing on May 30 and was released from custody on a release order/undertaking.  Chupil remains in custody at the Niagara Detention Centre and is scheduled for a bail hearing on June 2.
