A 17-year-old youth who went missing on Thursday (April 27) from Mississauga is being sought by police and family members, who are also asking for the public’s help in locating the boy.

Peel Regional Police say the youth, whose first name is Faizan, was last seen near his family’s home in the area of Dundas St. E. and Camilla Rd., just east of Hurontario St. in the Cooksville area of Mississauga.

Both police and the family are concerned for the missing youth’s well-being, as it is “odd for him” to be out of touch with loved ones.

The youth is described as standing 5-foot-5, with a slim build, short and curly black hair, and brown eyes.

He was last known to be wearing dark grey pants, a green camouflage jacket, black hat with the word “Canada” in red, black shoes with white soles, and carrying a backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-453-3311.

Peel police told insauga.com that they have changed their policy regarding missing persons and what information will be released via social media or to the media.

When a photo of the missing person is included, they will no longer provide surnames “unless there is an investigative value to do so.”

Toronto Police also have a similar policy in place as of this week.
