Plenty of school bus cancellations Monday; 22 in Clarington

Monday morning was a bit more hectic than usual for school bus operators and the students and parents that depend on them with 35 route cancellations, with most in Clarington.

There were 22 cancellations in Clarington as the year-long driver shortage problem persists as schools head into the final three weeks of the school year. Eight of the cancelled routes involved Duke of Cambridge Public School and Bowmanville High School.

Other Clarington schools affected by cancellations include St. Joseph, Dr. GV MacGillivary, Courtice Secondary and Courtice Intermediate, St. Stephen High School, Clarington Central Secondary and Clarington Central Intermediate, Hampton Junior, MJ Hobbs Senior, St. Francis of Assisi and St. Elizabeth.

There are also four cancelled routes each in Scugog, Ajax and Whitby with seven schools affected: Cartwright Central, RH Cornish and SA Cawker in Scugog; Notre Dame High School and St. Patrick in Ajax; and All Saints and Sinclair high schools in Whitby.
