Pizza place that recently closed transforming into burger restaurant in Toronto

A popular pizza joint that closed its doors in Toronto recently is now reinventing itself, pivoting from one of the city’s most well-loved foods to another.

What’s Toronto’s favourite food other than pizza? Why, burgers of course! Especially smash burgers. Now, popular pizza place Big Trouble is transforming into a new burger concept that appears to be called Mista Boiga.

The Big Trouble restaurant announced recently that it would be closing up shop, but now the same Instagram account that used to belong to them has changed its name, and the posts are all of their smash burgers.

The types of smash burgers Big Trouble has been serving at its pizza restaurant vary widely, with plenty of original creations beyond a more classic smash burger option. For example, there’s been the Kwispy Wanch with house-made tangy ranch, jalapeños, pickled onions and crispy fried onions, as well as the Gaucho Melt inspired by the famed Argentinian provoleta, with flame-torched cheese, chimichurri, and lemony aioli.

Posts announcing the new Mista Boiga restaurant have gotten hundreds of likes and many comments on Instagram within just 24 hours of going live, with many people commenting on social media that they’re so glad to see the restaurant come back in a new form and that they’ve been waiting patiently to see what this team’s next move would be.

The Instagram account for the new burger restaurant from the Big Trouble team also recently posted an emotional video, sharing the long journey it took to get to this point and how the team will continue from here.

The caption to the heartfelt post announcing the new burger concept from the Big Trouble team reads, “For the city. For the ones still building.”

“Legend in a league all his own,” one person wrote in a comment on social media. Another person wrote in a comment, “The phoenix is rising again, let’s go.”

A date of April 24 has been posted by the restaurant on social media, which looks as though it may be an opening date for the new concept taking up residence at the old Big Trouble space at 191 Geary.
