Officials at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga are alerting travellers to a labour demonstration planned for the noon hour on Monday outside Terminal 3.

Pearson officials said the demonstration involving Air Transat pilots, to take place outside the departures level at the busy terminal, is not expected to cause any issues for travellers and others using Canada’s biggest and busiest airport.

“We do not anticipate any impacts to operations or passengers. Teams will be on site to keep traffic moving,” Pearson said in a post to social media late Monday morning.

The Air Transat pilots, who are represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, are holding two information pickets on Monday — the demonstration at Pearson and another at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport — following 10 months of contract negotiations with the Montreal-based airline.

Monday’s demonstrations are scheduled to run from noon until around 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday marks the end of a federally mandated conciliation period and a three-week “cooling-off” period starts on Wednesday. A strike or lockout could take place as early as Dec. 10 if a new agreement is not reached.

The pilots have worked the past decade without a new collective agreement, according to the ALPA, which adds pilots are seeking updates to benefits, job protections, work rules and compensation.
