Pickering is participating in the LEAF Backyard Tree Planting Program again this year, providing native trees and shrubs for residential, multi-unit, and commercial property owners at a reduced rate.

The program, offered in partnership with Durham Region, is also available in Toronto, York Region and several other municipalities around Durham.

Participants can choose the Full Service Planting Program or the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) option.

The Full Service option offers an in-person arborist consultation, a native tree, and a full planting service from experienced LEAF staff (for $150 to $220 per tree).

The DIY option offers a virtual consultation with an arborist, a native tree delivered to the participants home, and easy-to-follow training for planting (for $100 to $170 per tree). This option applies to front, side, and back yards.

“We offer easy and affordable tree planting options,” says Erin MacDonald, Acting Executive Director, LEAF. “We help participants choose the right native trees for their spaces and equip them with the resources to help their trees survive and thrive. We’re excited to help Pickering residents green their yards and wider communities.”
