Forty years ago today the Pickering B Unit at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station entered commercial service.

Christopher Adlam, a network engineer, IT director and “passionate” advocate for nuclear energy reported this nugget of nuclear trivia on social media Wednesday morning, calling May 10, 1983 an “important day” in Canadian nuclear history.

The Pickering 2075 Unit B5 entered commercial service forty years ago and Adlam noted that with its mid-life refurbishment, it’s capable of “at least 40 more.”
