UPDATE: Person rescued from creek; major road closed in Mississauga

Update: A person was found seriously injured in the creek area under the Burnhamthorpe Road bridge, Const. Richard Chin told insauga.com in an update around 10 a.m.

Police were called to the area around 6:30 a.m. today (June 10), Chin said.

Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services crews began a water rescue and got the person out of the creek and transported to hospital.

In a post on X, Mississauga Fire said they did a rope and water rescue for a victim who had fallen into water down a ravine near 4300 Riverwood Park Lane.

The person sustained serious injuries, Chin said.

At this time, the investigation is continuing, however, it is not believed to be suspicious, he said.

The road had reopened by around 10:30 a.m., police said.

A major road closed in Mississauga for a police operation this morning.

Burnhamthorpe Road West was closed between Mississauga Road and Creditview Road, according to a post from Peel Regional Police.

The road was closed for a police investigation that started just before 7 a.m., the post read.

There is no threat to public safety.

Police ask drivers to use alternative routes.
