Person killed in Mississauga on GO Train tracks

A person was pronounced dead at the scene on Wednesday night after being struck by a GO Train in Mississauga.
The Peel Regional Police say they received a report at 7:46 p.m. in regard to the collision. It reportedly happened near the Dixie GO Station, on the Milton line. The station is located at 2445 Dixie Rd. in Mississauga.
The victim’s death was announced less than two hours after the report.
Passengers were stuck on the train for around two hours before a GO Bus arrived to get them to their destinations. GO Transit said it was halting service on the line for the rest of the evening.
“This has been a sad and unfortunate situation, and we thank you for your patience,” Metrolinx said in a statement.
