Peppa Pig live show comes to Hamilton’s FirstOntario Concert Hall

Peppa Pig is travelling all over North America this year, and the cheeky little pig will be making a stop at Hamilton’s FirstOntario Concert Hall for a camping trip with George and her school friends, including Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep and Gerald Giraffe.
The 60-minute live musical experience is scheduled for July 28, 2023.

Peppa Pig is an English preschool animated television series that has become a global phenomenon. So much so that linguistics experts have studied the “Peppe Pig effect” in Canada and the United States, where young children have acquired some Anglo-English pronunciation and vocabulary. For example, the pronunciation of ‘tomato’ and the use of words like ‘mummy’ and ‘biscuit’ instead of ‘mommy’ and ‘cookie.’
Author’s note: I experienced the Peppa Pig effect first-hand when my then four-year-old nephew offered me ‘a spot of tea.’

The animated show, airing on Disney+ in Canada, follows Peppa, an anthropomorphic female piglet, and her family, as well as her peers portrayed as other animals. The show first aired in 2004 and is now broadcast in over 180 countries.
The franchise was purchased by toy giant Hasbro in 2021.
The Peppa Pig live tour portrays the characters as large puppets voiced by actors. The show has garnered positive reviews since its inception.
