The first-ever Toronto Tempo game is on tonight, and people are excited.
The Toronto Tempo will host the Washington Mystics in their first regular-season game at the Coca-Cola Coliseum in Exhibition Place.
Toronto is one of two expansion teams, alongside the Portland Fire, joining the Women’s National Basketball Association. The WNBA is a women’s professional basketball league in North America now in its 30th season.
Tempo played a number of sold-out WNBA demonstration games in Toronto in 2023. It’s the newest franchise in the WNBA and the league’s first team outside the United States.
While Toronto Tempo has generated hype in the sports world, many INsauga.com readers are not excited about the team.
INsauga.com asked: Are you excited for the Toronto Tempo WNBA team?
A total of 628 people (35.28 per cent) said yes. Another 1,152 people (64.72 per cent) voted no.
Toronto Tempo will play 44 games during its inaugural season, including two at Montreal’s Bell Centre in July and two at Rogers Arena in Vancouver in August.
