Pelham recently found out it won gold for its activity-based “June 30 for 30” campaign earlier this year.

At the 2021 MarCom Awards, Pelham’s entry for that town-wide campaign was one of over 6,000 from 41 countries across the world.

While the MarCom Awards are no stranger to Pelham, who won honours from the same group in both 2019 and 2020, for the uninitiated, they reward “excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work, and generosity of industry professionals.”

As a result of the tracked physical activity, Pelham residents accumulated over 215,000 activity minutes and placed 15th in Ontario, despite having a population of just 17,000.

“The campaign receiving the Gold level is reflective of the efforts of the community; who embraced physical activity and worked together even while in the height of a pandemic,” said Pelham CAO David Cribbs.

Pelham’s “June 30 for 30” campaign won in the “Strategic Communications: Marketing/Promotion Campaign-Special Event” category and included extensive social media, a hybrid digital app, local newspaper advertisements, community outreach and trail signage all designed to encourage community members to be physically active.

The MarCom Awards are judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, an international organization consisting of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, digital, and web professionals.
