Peel’s interactive map shows new COVID-19 hotspots in Brampton

Peel Region has identified a number of areas with higher COVID-19 rates in Brampton for the week of Jan. 23 to 29.

The area with the highest rate is in southwest Brampton, which reported 76 cases of COVID-19 for a rate of 400.6 per 100,000.

According to Peel, the map shows a crude incidence rate defined as the total number of new cases within a specific time period divided by the total population and multiplied by 100,000.

For the week of Jan 23. to 29, 1,007 new cases were reported in Brampton and 2,107 were reported for all of Peel.

For the same week, Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon) had the 11th highest COVID-19 positivity out of Ontario’s 34 public health units (PHUs), reporting 16.81% positivity.

The province overall is listed 19th at 14.64% positivity.
