Peel Regional Police are hosting a recruiting information session on Aug. 19 in an ongoing effort to bolster their ranks.

Peel police count more than 2,000 officers and some 900 civilian employees among their ranks. Officials say joining the force can lead to opportunities within specialty areas such as forensic identification, homicide, major drugs and vice, special victims, and tactical and canine.

A second-class cadet with Peel Regional Police earns $48,936 annually, a first-class Cadet $53,829 and a Recruit Constable $58,722. From there, the salary increases as officers rise through the ranks from fourth-class Constable ($68,509) to first-class Constable ($105,535).

A comprehensive benefits package is also offered, police say.

The session will be held virtually using Webex, and runs from 6-7:30 p.m.
