Peel Region reporting 89 new COVID-19 cases, 50 in Mississauga and 35 in Brampton

The Region of Peel is reporting 89 new COVID-19 cases as of Friday (October 8).

Of Thursday’s new cases, 50 are in Mississauga, while 35 are in Brampton, and just four are in Caledon.

This brings the total for the Region to 116,984 cases. Of these, 115,526 have recovered, while 439 are still pending, 3,438 have been hospitalized, and 1,020 have died.

As of Friday, 58.7 per cent of cases are in Brampton, 37 per cent are in Mississauga, and just 4.2 per cent are in Caledon.

The Province is reporting 573 new cases on Friday, as well as 10 new deaths. With 37,118 tests completed, this brings the positivity rate to 1.54 per cent.

Additionally, the Province is reporting another 30,575 vaccinations. As of Friday, 86 per cent of eligible Peel residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 81 per cent have received both.
